Which Nero process handles a simple archive job?

I want to copy individual avi files that have been compacted (resized)
to individual CD's as backup. These are not zipped. Just to be saved and reloaded if necessary.

Nero Express or Nero Burning ROM. Just burn a data DVD or CD.

    Thanks for answering:

I did that in the simple cd burn routine. Went to the avi, it burned
and came up as files, not an avi that could be viewed from the disk
or transferred as one avi file for a disk rebuild.

    @lon,

Did you follow laddyboy's instruction? Burn the avi file as data CD and it should still retain the avi format. Just like burning any documents onto a cd.

    I'll give it another whirl....

Still having problems. I found the add screen and finally got thedirectories to open.

    I selected 1 255mb avi file

The Nero spit out my cdr and said I needed to use a dvd.

I redid the process using the default 'image recorder' instead of selecting my dvd by name. This also did not work.

How about going through the steps one at a time?

What option do I start with, what should I be seeing etc for using a
blank CDR with a capacity of 700 mb to copy an avi file of 250mb?

Not hard, I'm sure but i continue to get errors.

Select Nero Express from the Start Menu.
Click the Data icon in the leftmost pane and then click Data CD.
Add the AVI file, do the settings things and burn.

Are you sure you aren't starting Nero Vision Express instead of Nero Express? It should only take a minute or so to burn the file.

    Thanks for the help.

I have the basics of doing this now-- it just wasn't that intuitive.

To open the My directory, you must select ADD first

To get the recorder going, the device must be named (like Benq, Plextor)
and with the CDROM descriptor in the parenthesis.

I'm checking each one on this master set to make sure they are coming out as planned.

Appreciate the help as always at Afterdawn.
