I attempted last night to copy a CD, Political Tycoon, using Sonic, the software that came with my HP Pavilion model a1130n, using the disc to disc copy function. Not only did it not copy the disc even though the program stated that it had been successfully copied, but I had to completely shut my machine down and boot it back up to get the drive to open so I could remove the discs. I have found Sonic to be essentially worthless for copying anything besides audio cds. Anybody have an opinion of Sonic and more importantly, any ideas on how to copy data from disc to disc or am I approaching this wrong, i.e., copy to the hard drive, then to disc? Any one know of a good program, preferably freeware, that will do the job? with my first computer, I had EZ CD creator which worked fairly well although I did have problems with "buffer underrun" on occasion. Anyway, any info about copying data via CD medium would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for answering my thread. As to your questions: Windows XP. I did check with Sonic's web site for updates but didn't find anything. I've only had my new computer, which came with Sonic pre-installed, less than a month. The copy of Easy CD Creator came was on my old computer. I don't have it on my new machine. I wish I did. I did install a copy of Nero but found I could not copy dvds with DVDdecyrpter which I have found to be an excellent program when Nero was installed. I don't knows if there was a conflict between these two but when I uninstalled Nero, I had no problem copying dvds. When I purchased Political Tycoon, I was able to copy a backup on my old machine with Easy CD Creator. If you ddp or any one else knows a sure fire way to copy a backup on to cd, I would certainly appreciate any input you might have.
