I bought one of those GoDVD devices sometime ago and i nor the salesmanager of CompUSA could figure out how to hook it up. Directions that come with it are nil. I even wrote to to company Simacorp and they offer less than nil help. Returned it to the store and they told me if I got it connected it would only copy vedio, not the sound. Let me know if anyone had better luck than I did. And incidently I paid $75 for it
There is no copy protection riding in on the Audio signal, just the video signal. All you do is hook your VCR Out to your DVR IN and that all. The Audio cables go straight from the VCR to the DVR. The GoDVD device goes between the VCR and DVR video signal. Usually signified by the yellow connection on both devices. The GoDVD device is not a copying device, you still need the VCR and DVD Recorder. All it does is filter the Video signal, Not the Audio..... What else do you need to know? The device from Tigerdirect.com is only $69, although $75 isn't bad at all. Raymond
WEll I tell you, you explain it a whole lot better than the learned men I spoke to. I don't planm to go out and spend another $70 on this device especially when the company made me feel like I was stupid for asking basic questions about their product. Well, at $70 it's a bargain compared to the other choices out there. But I do have some videos on VHS that I want to archive to DVD and this was my only choice. Videos like Heart Like A Wheel aren't even available on DVD for instance. Plus I would like to get rid of some of my tapes, they sure are taking up some space on my bookshelf. Hooking up the GoDVD was a little more challenging, but all I wanted it for was to go between the VCR and DVD Recorder. I have a separate DVD Player, CD Recorder, turntable, cassette player, reciever, cable box, etc... And since the cable box goes to the VCR first, andything that needs filtering should automatically get done. And do what for a fee? Not sure what you need done. Raymond

Ohhh, there are companies out there that do just that. But I have seen rates of up to $20 per tape and more. Doesn't take long to buy your own equipment. Especially if you already own a VCR and DVD Recorder. I need to get back to my tapes soon... Raymond
What brand DVD recorder do you have? Have you tried a Macrovision hack? Hacks are available for some recorders .. If you're spending $70 or so for a stabilizer, maybe you should spenf $100 on an ilo recorder from WalMaer and apply Guitarman's hack
Thats part of the problem. I do not have a DVD recorder. I was hoping I could record onto a DVD via my computer. Of much easier to send it to someone to do it for me.
How many tapes are you talking about? IF it's one or a small number, it may be feasible to have someone burn them for you. If you are taling about dozens of them, buy the equipment. Raymond
You might also try buying a cheap USB video capture device; they sell for about 70 US and up and you then you could simply copy your tapes to your hard drive and then back to DVD media.
dies anyone know if this GoDVD witll work with Panasonic DVRs? I read that some of the "stablizers" have some problems with some brands of DVR'a - Panasonic in particular was mentioned. Rad
I have one on my Panasonic DMR-E55. Works like it's supposed to. Haven't had a tape yet it couldn't archive for me. Before the GoDVD, I had 1 tape in 10 that could be read. Only minor thing I found with mine, is when you do a fast forward on the tape, everythings fine. When you do a fast rewind it blanks out. Raymond
