I've copied dvd w/dvd decrypting and created an iso file. It DOES play on my ps2 but it cuts offs about 3/4 of the way through. I decided to check my hard drive files and play movie from there and it does the same thing. It tells me that file might be damaged and/or clean disc etc... something like that. I'm new at this and it is driving me nuts. I think maybe file is too big for dvd+r but that doesn't explain why it's doing it from my hard drive? Would anyone please help me. P.S Really I discovered that an iso file can play on a ps2 by accident. I was really trying just to copy my dvd's to protect the originally, so I could play on my dvd player but it just keep reading it nothing else. So I put it in my ps2, thinking I was wasting my time, and was shock and extremly happy at same time that it actually played. But as I was scrolling through it, I noticed it stopped 3/4 of the way through.Anyone know why I'm having this problem? Because I really need help. Thanks a million
You've come to the right place for help! I assume you used Decrypter in ISO read and then used ISO write to burn. This method works fine with a DVD-5 movie but not a DVD-9. A DVD-5 is no bigger than about 4.36 GB, a DVD-9 can be 8 GB or larger. A DVD-9 movie will not fit on a blank disc, they can only hold 4.36 GB. Did you get any error messages when your movie quit playing in your Play Station? I recommend (without knowing anything about your OS, computer specs, burner, etc.) That you try DVDShrink 3.1.3 (free) and Nero 6 (30 day demoversion). Make sure your movie disc is very clean and that you buy high qulity blank media, I use Memorex 4X +R. Try some -R/W to practice with. Your PS2 prefers -R media. thanks for responding. I will give dvd shrink a try and let you know. I tried the dvd-9 to one dvd-5 through dvd wizard pro, where it says to select file mode using dvd decrypter. I don't think I'm doing something right because i didn't always get the files they showed in their display. I'm not sure what movies files i need.... so let me try this dvd shrink. In the mean time if you are familiar with this method using dvd decrypter, please help me out because I really just want the movie, no subtitle, previews, warning label etc... the question with ps2... when i played the first cd I did, it just stopped playing saying unable to read disc.
I've found out that my PS2 likes movies that are burned using a flawless source original and they are very picky about blank media. PS2s are great for games. My $60.00 E-bay Emerson plays everything I put in it, and cheaper to replace than the PS. Try this with Decrypter: Open Decrypter as usual, all your files showing on the right. Select "Mode",and choose "File". Select "Edit",and choose "Select Main Movie Files". Select "Decrypt' to start the process. Your decrypted "main movie only" files still have to be no bigger than 4.36 GB to fit on a blank disc. DVD Shrink can decrypt and compress and is pretty easy to use. Decrypter, used the way I described, and DVDShrink cannot burn your disc for you. You are going to need a burning program. Using these programs, you really don't need to worry about each individual video file, The programs will use the files they need and if something is missing or corrupt you will get some kind of warning or error. I had trouble using the file mode with dvd decrypter because it automately select all my file and not just a few as it showed in a display so i was uncertain about that, so after i decrypted the dvd, i used dvd shrink instead and removed unwanted parts from the dvd to make it fit to my dvd+r and recorded with nero and amazingly it did fit and it plays like the original in my ps2. Great quality. I hate it cause it won't play on my home Panasonic dvd player though. But, I like it because I have a ps2 in my car as well for when we go on trips etc..., I don't have to worry about the origin copy. Kids losing it, scratching it ect... But like I said, my only down fall is that I can't watch it in normal dvd player. Hate that The craziest thing about the whole experience it that I was copying it for home use not knowing that ps2 would even play the copy (until I tested it.)I was shocked, Now I wish I could get my music videos in mpg or avi format to convert and play on ps2 because I think it would be cool to play video in my car ps2. My kids or anyone can watch video to their favorite songs. Do you know if there are any programs that convert avi or mpg format to that iso file or mpeg2 format needed for ps2. This is my goal. It would GREAT Thanks again
Happy to hear you got something to play at least. So what is the model of your Panasonic? Maybe a search will reveal something? What brand of Media are you using? Is it +R or -R? There are programs to convert .AVI files to mpeg2, I consider it to be not worth the effort but many people do it. Try looking at the guides tab here at Afterdawn and the first thread of this forum. my dvd players is a panasonic DVD-CV52 5 disc and i'm using +R there is RW at bottom on my DVD+R, do that mean I can record over them and reuse? I know that sounds dumb that I don't know that but I don't well now I guess I try and figure out to copy my ps2 games? Any suggestions?
Yes you can copy over R/W discs. You get a slow 1X burn speed though. If you have been using R/W discs, your Panasonic may not like them. I suggest some high quality +R media and might as well get a few -R discs to experiment with. Your PS2 will need something called a "mod chip" installed to play game back-ups. They have a forum for games called "Blasteroids", I haven't been there, yet. There is also a PS2 forum here at AD.
