copying damaged game

    hi all
    my disc2 of rainbow 6 wont work properly, when i run it and click on multi play after a few seconds i get prog not responding ( i have to be quick to get back to my desk top or i get stuck an its pull the plug out time), ive uninsaled the game and tried to reinstal with no luck, i get video error. ive tried 3 times on the 3rd time i instaled the light version which instaled but still got the nonresponsive program problem. so after several attempts i managed to copy disc 2 to my harddrive, i then copyed it to cd ran that and got please insert the correct cd-rom, another non rw cd in the bin, tried running it from my harddrive and got "cannot create composite image from raw string". ive tried copying the disc with clonecd that didnt work it couldnt open the image on the drive.
    Ive run out of ideas now and the last thing i want to do is line UBI's pockets twice for the same game.
    Any ideas??

    forgot to ask.
    when i copyd the disc to either the harddrive or to cd would it copy the problem on the disc aswell?

    If you have something like Alcohol 120%, BlindWrite or CloneCD you might try ripping an image to your hard drive and then try running it from a virtual drive.

    ok ive ripped to harddrive ive got 3 files
    r6.ccd, r6.sub and r6.img
    none of these i can open, am i suposed to send these to a virtual drive? which i havent got, i think. if so where can i get a virtual drive?

    Sorry not to seem harsh but,
    Do a google search for virtual drives & educate yourself, so you wont have to as you say "keep going in circles".

    ive had this pc for less than 12months so sometimes i still miss the most obvious, point taken though.
    ive downloaded 2 virtual drives the first VDCreator didnt work still asked me to put the correct cd-rom in on start up, the second Original cd emulator2 is still running but all the reading of sectors is failing so i dont think thats working either.

    Daemon Tools Rules! Also, regarding the Alcohol120 and Alcohol58 drives, they take some configuration to get going ... once they're setup they run great tho

    was up till 4am trying to get this to work then realised the 8th can of lager wasnt helping, straight on it again this morn read the help file again and bingo 5 mins later im playing raven off my harddrive.
    not only is raven working again but ive got virtual drives.How happy am i,
