I have bought map create from lei to make maps for my gps. it is a 4 cd set, after installing every time you use it you must install one of the orignal discs to start it then you can remove it. i have made copies of them but they won't start it. i want to put the originals away so they don't end up scrached. i want to be able to take a copy with my lap top on the road.

Here are 2 suggestions. Could be that you are not using your burn software properly so you end up with coasters, but for exact backup of a CD, I use CloneCD from http://www.elby.ch/en/products/clone_cd BTW what software did you use. Let me know this before I advice you to run out and buy this software or any other for that matter.
Another solution is to use a Virtual CD-ROM creator(eg Extra Drive Creator Pro from http://www.extradrivecreator.com )and copy an .iso image of each CD onto your hard drive so that you can run it without having to insert any CDs at all. The disadvantage here is that it will take up a lot of your HDD space depending on the size of each disc and if you have a system failure while out on the road you may regret not having taken backup copies with you. That's assuming that you have a system restore disc with you in the first place. Coz if you don't, them it's curtains for the map installation and you now have bigger problems.

I have nero ultra 6 with newest updates. I was able to copy all 4 discs (3gb) and they work to install the program on another computer but when you are done and start the progarm it asks for an original disc to start then remove it. a copy won't start it but an original will. My nero will cearate a virtual drive. i also have the last shrink and dvd decripter, dvd fab express, and the newest any dvd will any of these help?

I use Nero for most of my other burning needs but I've always used CloneCD http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html for all exact backup copies of my discs. It has never failed me for the many years that I've been using it. If you are not too concerned about the amount of space that it takes up then try to use Nero to create virtual drives with your discs and see if this works. I can't comment on AnyDVD, etc as I have never used them but I'm sure that if you stick around that someone will render advice on them, so that you don't have to run out and buy new software. If Nero fails to create the virtual drives for you then use a trial version of the program I mentioned above and see if that will do it. Tell you what, browse through the DVD+/-R Discussion and the CDR and Digital Audio forums and you may very well find what you're looking for. I've never encountered this particular problem but just to keep you informed, have a look at this even though it applies moreso to games that have been backedup http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/57282 Cheers.
