Copying Movies

    I am NEW here and i need some advice ,there is someone who has threatened to report me for copying movies ,because it takes away from her business,lol.. who does she report this to ? and how much Real trouble is possible from this..does the report have to go through the local police?

    where are you located? wait, are you both selling copied movies? if so, stop, destroy the evidence, and then report her. she would report this to the authorities, most likely the FBI or more major organization if you're in the US, as you are committing what has become a major felony in recent years. scumbag pirates, like yourself, have received ten years in prison and fines in the hundreds of thousands and into the millions of dollars US.

    IM not selling the movies ,lol i made backups for my house she happened to see them in my wifes purse.... she owns a rental movie store and she was offended.i feel like if i own the movie i can make a backup of the movie ,legal or not...

    if you only have one backup for each of your legally purchased movies, and you have nothing but legally purchased movies, you're good. there's really nothing she can do. i would threaten her with a suit of harassment if she continues her bantering.

    I'd just hit her over the head with a big stick and be done with it! LOL

    On a more serious note...
    If she takes this far enough and you get investigated, then if you are backing up rented movies that you don't own, that is illegal (allthough everyone does it ;P)

    If you are backing up your legally purchased mvies for you own use and not selling them, then tell her where to shove it.

    if you are just makin backups than u are fine i make backups cause i am known to scaratch disks...but if you are dloadin them or rentin them than makin copies you are breakin the law.
