Hi, I have a DVD that has slight scuffs and very fine scratches on it. When played on my dvd player ,it has some small skips in it. What is some of the best copy programs out, that can see through this. I realize if it's too bad ,nothing will, but i've read that some programs do a good job on this problem. Thanks............
Toothpaste? That is the first time I heard of that one. What do you do, just put it on the disc and fill in the scratches? ALso, how well does it work?
Using either a very soft cloth or just your fingers, gently rub the disc with a small dab of toothpaste mixed with a little water and you can remove all but the worst scratches. Rub the abrasive on very lightly, working from the center straight out to the edge (again, not a circular motion). The scratch may not completely disappear - your goal is to just smooth out the sides of the scratch a little so it won't affect playback. Rinse off the abrasive and dry. Unless you have seriously gouged the surface of your disc, the toothpaste will do the trick.
In the past I have used similar methods to recover such a disc with car polish just enough to get the P.C's dvd rom to read the disc without errors using DVD Decrypter. This program will tell you if it has any read errors anyway as do most others. Once you have it on your HDD you can burn it to a nice new disc. Do a search on the forums if you have'nt ripped and burnt before.
