I record TV shows to the hard disk in my Comcast Cable Box. Then I record them to a DVD recorder. They play ok on TV, but when I try to make a copy, I get a message that the format cannot be recognized. Can anyone tell me what is going on and what I must do to make a copy?

Yes, I have a DVD-Rom and a DVD-RW drive in my computer. I have tried NERO OEM and also DVDRW Maker. Niether one works. Also, I have lost the ability to have my screensaver work at any time.

When I record from the Cable Box it goes to a Toshiba combination DVD and VCR recorder. At theat point the disk works ok.

so you used a standalone recorder other than the computer to make the first copy.then that may be your problem.that the computer cant recognize the format that the standalone used.or the standalone copied it at a high speed.can you adjust the burn speed on the toshiba?

I do not know whether I can adjust the burn speed on the Toshiba, but I will take a look at doing that. I have continued to attempt to copy disks and find that it may be my DVD-ROm in that I can use the burner drive as both the source and the burner and it seems to work. Strangely enough, although this requires reading and storing on my hard drive and then reading from the hard drive to the burner, it is really quite fast. I cannot find where NERO says what drives can be used with their program. It may be that I need to purchase and install a different DVD-ROM.

Thanks for your interest in this. I am 78 years old and not as sharp at figuring out computers as I once was.
