Hey everyone, just last semester at my school my teacher installed a Norton Antivirus on my laptop so he could make sure that his network was safe. Anyway about a week into summer it stopped live updating and windows installer would show up all the time for it. I could not reinstall it without him though. So I thought that in the meantime I would use AVG. When I came back to school my teacher said that I had corrupted Norton Anti virus due to two anti viruses battling it out and that he could not reinstall it. The only way he said I could get it back on was to wipe my hd. Now i dont want to have to do this at all so you guys got any ideas as to what to do? I did delete all the files relating to symantec and ran a registry fix program but it still comes up with a windows installer from time to time.

Find another teacher who knows something about computers. If he/she is worth their salt, they would be able to remove both, then reinstall Norton.

There are numerous registry cleaners out there that will clean out all remnants of both programs. Don't have him/her run it though. Find someone that knows how, or do it yourself.
