I have recovered some pictures from my external hard drive that I have saved on their. When I try to read or view the file it says it can't generate a preview. It says that on all the jpeg files that I recovered. Is there any program that can fix the files I have so I can view the photos? any help would be great.

What happened to the HD and how did you recover the corupted files?

There are a few programs out there that can read HD's that have been erased and or formated.
The one that I have used with success is Stellar pheonix, I used it to recover a HD that lost its partition and got everything back, didn't lose anything.

    More than likely corrupted files.

Recovered files are not always usable. You might try another piece of software like Recuva and make sure to save the recovered files to a different drive than the one you are recovering from.

Also, you haven't answered the question as to what happened to the old drive.

Yes, you should definitely try a different program(s) and see if that makes any difference.

There are several free programs out there to do the job. If they all come back with corrupted files then there's not much that can be done.
