Could a softmod do this?

    Alright so I softmodded my version 1.6 xbox before and shortly thereafter my DVD Laser died. Now I plan on softmodding it again but just to make sure, there is no way that a softmod can f**k up your DVD drive right? And was just coincidence that my laser died right?
