I've been reading constantly on how to solve this problem, but I am having no luck. I'm beginning to think its my dvd drive.

I bought it back in Nov 07, so its fairly new. Thing is, i've burned probably 60 dvd+r memorex dvds with it and I am now getting an error while using shrink or nero by itself.

I checked firmware, its up to date.
    I defragmented my Harddrive
I uninstalled nero7 and shrink and reinstalled.
I'm running XP with 1 gig of ram.
The only thing i might have done differently, is I installed img burn, but after having this problem I uninstalled it.
I've tried burning at slower speeds, but that does nothing.
Since i've burned plenty of dvds with the memorex dvds I dont think its the media, but I have new media coming tomorrow I can try.
I even tried doing the "nero test drive" function but when I go to create a disc I get the error "No additional sense information (000000)"

Here is my log of the disc-at-once error

DMA needs to be on, heres a guide to turn back on

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

You are using discs made by CMC mag...memorex..these ARE horrible discs and it is usually the case where you find a number of discs in a spindle that cause problems...try Verbatim or Sony (made in Japan)

    Slow your burn to 4X

Also there is a later version of Nero available 7.10.1.0 from here

Having problems trying to find where to turn dma settings off. I've searched the guides, and google. This is my device manager, I don't have any settings under properties, etc that show my dma settings. Should I just uninstall my dvd drive?

HI, Just thought I would add if anyone is still following page. If you are checking DMA you are in wrong spot. Drop down to the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. In there you should have your ATA AND Primary IDE channel, double click on the IDE one. This will bring up a separate window, go to the advanced settings tab, the transfer mode should have DMA if available and the current transfer mode should have the mode type (mine says ultra DMA Mode 4 yours may say 5 0r whatever). If yours says PIO only, you need to reset it, go to website winhlp http://winhlp.com/node/10

microsoft says the only way is to uninstall then reinstall, but I have run this before, and it worked, they also show you how to thru the registry. If you don't trust the script you can look at it if you are on mozilla firefox. firefox just brings up the text instead of running it.

I hope this helps, though with your problem I think it may be something else. But if you have had many burn errors yours probably went to PIO too.

Yeah, I'm having same problem with SATA Lite on 16X DH-16A6S a phillips-liteon Dell installed drive drive, cannot perform end of disc at once. With SATA motherboard and HDD and optical drives there is no changing DMA cause it's not changeable according to tech and appears that ways in device manager..

what do you mean no changing DMA? If it is DMA you can change to PIO, usually this will give you burn errors, or it will change to PIO on its own if you have something like 6 or more burn errors in a row.

If it did change to PIO on its own, then you can change it back by running the script at winhlp, com (see above). this is the easiest way. Also make sure to defrag your drive, drives needing defraged can cause burn errors.

if you are getting a could not perform end at disc at once, it is possible that you are having a conflict with other read/write programs. I had similar error after I downloaded graboid, which comes with vlc media player. I can have both on my computer, but if I have been using graboid/ vlc media player, I need to restart my computer before burning.

    @tennk

You need to bone up, there is no DMA setting with a SATA ODD.
