Hi, I have a problem with my TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M SCSI CdRom Device CD/DVD burning device. It's a Toshiba-Samsung product. I'm using NERO OEM 6.6.1.15 and every time i try to burn a data DVD(or any DVD) i get this error message "Could not perform start of Disc-at-Once". When i hit the Burn button the disc in the drive even doesn't spin and after few seconds drive ejects it(even on lower speeds). I am using Philips DVD+RW and also tried Platinum Plus DVD+RW. Everything works with CDs I appreciate your help. Here is my endless error log: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 26.10.2004 19:35:32 Nero Version: 6.6.0.19 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 19d (Nero Express) Recorder: <TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M>Version: SB00 - HA 4 TA 1 - 6.6.0.19 Adapter driver: <JRAID> HA 4 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? Hi madis Recorder: <TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M>Version: SB00 Update the firmware on the drive. The latest is SB04. Disc Manufacturer ID: MBIPG101 Not the best. Better +RW discs would be Verbatim or Maxell. Formatting disc failed Do a full erase of the disc. If that fails then something is up with disc itself. DiskPeripheral : SATA WDC WD2500 JRAID Port 4 ID 0 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : TSSTcorpCD/DVDW SH-S182MSB00 JRAID Port 4 ID 1 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : CH3277P YLU834M 1.0 ayd0izgb Port 5 ID 0 DMA: Off You probably fine here - Nero only report DMA correctly when the drives are connected by ide. Check device manager and the controller for these drive to check and make DMA is on.
Thank you for your reply, but i haven't found a solution jet. I updated firmware. DMA is enabled(Tranfer mode: DMA if available) on all drives. And drive ejects the disc when i try to Full Erase it. Help"
Ok try another disc that hasn't been burned to before. If still a no go then switch the media to the ones above. Have you tried burning to non RW discs like -R or +R discs? Any problems w/ them?
Ok, I bought a Verbatim DVD+R disc and everything works just fine. It seems that my PC has problems writing RW discs. Any idea why? But thanks for help anyway.
Could just be that the 2 you've tried aren't compatible w/ the drive. Another option is try another burning program and see hoow that goes w/ the rw. Here's a good free one - ImgBurn. Use the build mode to add the data files or the video_ts folder to burn.
I installed ImgBurn, built a a iso file and when i hit the burn button i got a message "The disc needs to be formatted before use...." I selected YES, but recived an error message "Failed to Erase Disc - Invalid Command Operation Code-Operation Failed! - Duration: 00:00:00"
Has this disc ever been burned too? Sounds like it has - that's why Nero & ImgBurn are trying to format then when that fails they try to erase the disc. have you tried one or a different brand that hasn't been burned to?
Ok - I'm at a loss on why this burner isn't liking the RW media. You still might want to try another brand besides Platinum Plus or Phillips - try Verbatim or Maxell.
Hello, This is a firmware related problem. Your DVD writer is not used to newer type of DVDs. I have just solved this problem by doing this: 1. I find out exactly what kind of DVD writer I have. 2. I went to their site and downloaded the correct firmware, and the instruction. 3. I followed the instruction provided. 4. After flashing the firmware everything started to work even better than before. Good Luck! Shahab
