Wow, first time i've been on here in years. Glad to see some new members and still see others kickin' around! Anyways; having built my computer close to two years ago, i've been thinking about a cpu upgrade finally! I've decided that my old amd athlon 64 3200+ just doesn't cut it anymore with the amount of things i want to do. Seeing on newegg how cheap the dual cores are nowadays, i've been thinking about shelling out about 100 bucks for this bad boy right here: Looks like it will suit me just fine for the tasks i must complete only question is.... its been so long. So here comes the REAL question:: How exactly should i go about replacing my processor?! I understand how to do it hardware wise, no big deal there... but software wise:: will i need to make any software modifications for windows to recognize it or will my processor automatically be read by the bios, os, etc.. ???? Just curious, as i need to brush the dust off my building skills!! haha! thanks guys!!!!! ~
windows should recognize without any problems. if it doesn't you might have to reinstall. what socket is your current cpu? is it a 939 or an am2?
