I get a "cpu fan error message press F1 to continue" after loading bios. The fan is running and plugged into CPU_Fan on mobo. I have a thin but even coat of thermal paste that was pre-applied on the stock HSF. I am able to use the computer get into windows and run stress test to see temp. Anyone know what would cause the CPU Fan error?

    Asus P5k
Core 2 Quad Q8300 (stock HSF)

    core temp .99.8
    Idle (33c) Stress test 100% cpu for 5 mins(64c)

check in the bios for hardware monitor or something like that to see if cpu fan rpm shows up. are you certain you have it plugged into cpu fan connector on motherboard & not psu fan connector on motherboard?

hmmm first guess would be a bad connection with the fan cable, check that all 3-4 cables are in the socket and it's connected correctly. then check the hardware/bios to see if the rpms are showing up. and uhh..."core temp 99.8" please tell me that's Fahrenheit!granted i'm guessing so by the number beneath.
