I am looking for a good CD to MP3 ripper that will maintain the artist and song profiles. I really like Easy CD-DA Extractor but I always get carckling in the song. If I use Windows Media Player, I do not get crackling but it will not retrieve the artist and song profiles. Can you suggest something better than these 2 programs? What do you use? Thanks for the help.

use EAC (exact audio copy). It is hands down the best ripper there is, period. It is free too, and when combined with the LAME mp3 encoder using VBR settings, you will create the highest quality (as far as mp3s go) possible. We have a guide on how to setup and use EAC here:

ps. next time, please do a search. basic q's like these have been asked hundreds of times...

EAC is by far the best. No other program comes close. Also use WinAmp to listen to your MP3's instead of Windows Media Player.

Holding down ALT + G i think connectes to the CDDB. Use the starter guides on EAC to see If i'm correct and for more helpful hints and tips.

there is an option somewhere in the settings of EAC that will connect to the freedB automatically once a new CD is inserted
