Create a new folder. Put whatever you want to share in that folder. Now right click on it and go to properties. Go to the Sharing tab and share it! Good luck!
if your running a router than you have to make sure your network group has the same name and you also have to make sure each PC sees the others Ip address. If hard wired then you should be all good. Which is it? hardwired or router?
router and can anyone tell me direct configureation, so i can just do it all the time bc it seems confusing, i did share folder and its being shared but its not showing up on my laptop
all right, sorry for the last post. select Start and select Control Panel, from there click on Network Setup Wizard select next until you get to a screen that looks like this make sure the middle middle box is selected. Now name your computer but make sure the other computer is not named the same. And now select next, from here your gonna need to make a Workgroup name: On both computers the Workgroup name: has to be the same. Select next and select the box that says Turn on file and printer sharing, select next again until you get here and make sure everything is all good. Select and check Just finish wizard; Now we are almost done, select finish and restart you PC. Now do this to your other PC or laptop Once both computers are setup now it's time to make both PCs see eachother. But first make a shared folder on both PC and name then whatever you want Hit Start then Run and put these \\ and whatever you named your other PC, and do the same to the other PC (no spaces) Also if you are running a firewall you are going to configure your firewall to let you access you shared folders. I am using Norton Internet Security to show you. I would use a range 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.110 since (from experience) routers when you have to reset them like or tend to change IP address's Good luck and feel free to ask any questions. I would aslo like to thank -flip218- cause he is the one that helped me with networking my first time.
