Hey gang, I have a question, Ihave just recieved a film(backup) that was sent to me in .RAR format there was about 25 files. I then proceeded to extract the file and thusly was given a IMG file. I know this IMG file is typically used to create a DVD. At this time I am not wanting to burn this file to a DVD, yet I just want to have to be able to play/watch the movie from my PC. I have a really large HD that has become my media center. *Please recomend a program that puts all of the files into a easy to use, format that I can just store and play on my PC. Please advise. thanks, Sean
you need to mount the *.img file in a virtual drive, once you do that your computer will see as if you've burnt the disc and inserted it into your DVD drive. To mount the img you can use either Daemon Tools (free) or Alcohol 120% (not free).
I totally agree. The 'virtual drive' will be the next free dive letter (if you already have the D: and E: 'physical drives' you'll view the DVD being on the 'virtual drive' by playing a DVD on F.
Ok, Now here is the place where I am having a real problem. After extracting the 25 .rar files, I got a .IMG file. what program do you program use to convert it into the best viewing saving program. I have DVD encrypter, but dont think that will work. What are your suggestions, and what output type should I be looking for? I will also be trying to view theese files on my modified xbox. I can view jpegm, mpeg, wma, and most other video files. I am more concerned with viewing on my PC. thanks, Sean
After having 'mounted' the resulted .IMG, use any software which lats you view a DVD (like viewing it at home, in your DVD Player). I use InterVideo WinDVD ( http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/WinDVD_Download.jsp ) , which was installed together my system. Therefore, I don't know others, sorry (it is not free)....
Please help- I have downloaded and saved some old movies (100-250 mb) on my HD from a site and played by windows media player. How can I burn them on CD or DVD and play them using a regular DVD player and TV? Thanks in advance.
OK..you need a video conversion program to convert your video's to DVD, or VCD, or SVCD..the choice is your preferance..most conversion programs like nero vision in nero7 ultra you can download free for a trial period. if your new at this I would segest a more simple and basic program like DVD santa
