http://www.compusa.com/products/pro...er&Ntk=All&Nty=1&D=crossover&Dx=mode matchall in case you want to see them in various sizes, CompUSA also carries them for a real good price, $12.99 for a 50 foot cable. then only thing that was weird about the one you listed is that it was called a Crossover patch cable. a patch cable and a crossover cable are two different things. They look exactly that same but the wireing is different in them. http://geeksaresexy.blogspot.com/2006/01/save-money-how-to-make-your-own.html look down that page and you will see a diagram of a patch (strait) cable and a crossover. On a patch cable the wiring on both ends will be in the same order, on a crossover cable they will be in a slightly different order. If you buy the cat5 crossover cable that i linked you to at CompUSA then you can be sure it will be correct. either one may work but from what i was told it depends on how the hookup is as to which you use. Strait from Xbox to PC i think you can use either one, but through a router i think you have to use the crossover.
Thanks steimy. I am so lost on cat-5, cat-5e, cat-6, crossover cable, crossover patch cable,,,,,, I'm going to take your advise and get this http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=cat3&product_code=289870&Pn=CAT_5e_UTP_Crossover_Cable. I want to get the right cable the first time. Thanks again
http://www.compusa.com/products/pro...t_code=50009554&Pn=CAT_5e_UTP_Crossover_Cable this is the exact one i bough. Like i said before. Both may work depending on how you use it, but i KNOW that the one i have worked when i hooked my Xbox directly to my PC, and after i bought the router. Then i decided to go high tech since the router was wireless and buy a wireless gaming adapter so i could make the connection without the wires (tv is in a different room then the PC so i had to unhook it and hook it to the small TV in the room with the PC every time i wanted to transfer stuff or update programs.) the wired connection is noticably faster when transfering stuff, but for online gaming you would not notice a difference. Goo luck and if you need help setting up all the FTP stuff between the PC and Xbox you know where to find help. P.S. Is your Xbox modded? I forgot to ask that because if not you can forget about all the FTP stuff as a stock Xbox can not do it. If it is and you want free online gaming here are so sites you need to check out. http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ http://www.xbconnect.com/ http://www.leafnetworks.net/
Hyper X? Not a great choice of chips. You should really do more research before you buy a modchip. a good inexpensive choice would have been a DuoX2 chip which is only $20 the Xenium chips are about the best. aroung $50-$60 or even the Aladdin chip which is $17
It's my first mod and I wanted something easy and cheap. All I'm wanting to do is "back up" my daughters games for her.
A little FYI..here is an excellent xbox modding resource page. Doesn't seem to cover the hyperX http://www.xbox-modchips.com/tutorials.html HyperX install guide (pdf) linked from post 9 in this thread. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=16f8a0d21bdcb787c24115d2354df4f6&showtopic=499301 Read the rest as well.. Interesting reading, and may help avoid some of the pitfalls with this well known awkward cheapie. ;-)
