Just curious how many of you have ever Over Clocked a CPU till it fried? We all talk about using caution, but how many CPU's have really bit the dust because of this and if so, how much over did you clock it for it to happen?

When you hang too many clocks on the wall, and it brings it down...............LOL

Nah, seriously it is the process of increasing the performance of your CPU, but increase in performance = increase in current consumption = increase in heat dissapation.

    Have a look here http://www.pcmech.com/show/processors/132/

I may try it actually, just need to find a nice unsuspecting victim.......hee hee hee....................

My point of this thread is to actually see if anyone has actually blown a CPU, Motherboard, etc. It's sort of like saying don't run because you may trip, and you will still get there ether way, only one is safer. I want to either dismiss the wife’s tales or acknowledge them. I've overclocked my last three PC's but only 10%. My main PC of 3.4 is now 3.74 and extremely stable at that. I have taken it to 3.91 and 4.08 for testing but brought it down only because I can't find these chips any longer, (3.4 Northwood,) and want to keep this one forever. It idles so cool even slightly overclocked, always under 96 F and usually down to 91F. My main machine is on 24/7 for the most part and my 2.8 is at 3.22 but is only used by my wife now and then.

Only once man (and it was quite intentional). And only cuz i knew i could return it the next day. Sent a Pentium4 550 to hell with a Fatal1ty board. I do some crazy stuff with hardware but i also realize i cant afford to fusk up so i have a tendency to push it till theres lots of anomalies but not to the point of it frying.
