Hi I've been trying to figure out how to get a avi file into 2 VCDs for television viewing... I've been through most of the process. I Converted it into mpg format. And I already cut it in half. I have the first half of the movie and I used tmpgenc to do it. But when I try to cut the second half something goes wrong. I see the status of it when it runs. The video finishes fine. But RIGHT after the audio finishes and the multiplexing begins, tmpgenc freezes and says "Not Responding" in the "Shift, Cntrl, Alt, Del." Screen. I want to know what the problem is and how it can be fixed.
I don't know. But, if you're desperate, what about re-doing the encoding AVI -> MPEG of the 2nd part only of course, with 'Settings__Advenced__Source Range'? In this way, by choosing two consecutive frames N and N+1 (where there's no speech, of course) where the image changes (it doesn't happen often sinhc you've >20 frames per seconf [FPS]), the 'cut' is perfect, and 1+2 = whole (you could ven encode both parts on the same run via batch encodng. See the 'Select the source range' part of http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd2svcd_with_tmpgenc.cfm). With 'MPEG Tools' I noticed thet TMPGenc receives the split point on %, and not in frames. Sometimes, since you have 23.976 or 25 fps (and never, of course, 100 fps), you don't manage to split corectly a movie in 2, because N% and N+1% correspond to the same frame.
Ummm...THNX for the post but...when it was in the "not Responding" mode. I randomly clicked around and for some freakish reason...it started up again. Anyways i got the movie onto the VCDs. Thnx Anyways
