Hi, I'm trying to make a duplicate of a disc, as i lent it out and its come back scratched! i keep receiving the erro cyclic redundancy check VOB_2 cannot be read, does anyone know any software to get round this? Isobuster won't work. Thanks
First, try the obvious and easy way. Rinse it with water and a little bit of soap, then wipe it dry. If it still fails, you could try DVDX-Rescue...quite an old program, but I have saved several scratched DVDs with it over the years.
If you have access to more than one burner/reader try them. Some are able to read discs that others choke on. You can also try DVDDecrypter and set it's error retries to a very high number and hope for the best.
hey just use water or car wax on them if that doesnt work return it for another one.youre dvd is either scratched or dirty.
There is another option if all else fails, get ya self a disk repairer, they're pretty cheap around 35.00 dollars NZ,admittedly i did a re-surface of a slightly scratched disk that did work beforehand but the re-surfaced disk was still able to be read, wish i had that machine for a few PS2 games i threw out *grumble, grumble, would've saved a few dollars*
There are also those places that use the better disc buffers to do it. Those generally show less marks after finishing. Even though it worked, always look at the disc before ripping. Clean it is there are smudges or stains. You want to put as little stress on your drive as possible. If you stress too much, the drive will not last as long and the disc will take longer to rip.
