I bought a used CD off eBay a couple of weeks back. I played it for the first time today and about 2 mins in on track 2 it starts skipping. I have made a image of the disc and mounted it but still the same problem. I have ripped to MP3 using Exact Audio Copy but the same thing happens. What can I use to clean the cd or get rid of this problem.

I don't want to send back the CD as it's a US import and I can't find it anywhere in England.

If anyone could help me or link me to a thread with an answer I would appreciate it alot. I have used the search feature but that didnt help.

    Thanks in advance

is there a scratch on the topside of the cd & if so, is it deep or just thru the aluminum coating??

Cant see any scratches on the label but it looks a bit mucky. On the data side there are scratches but none which I would say would effect play if I had not listened to the recording. I listened to the whole album and it's only at a certain point in track 2 where it skips. I made an image of the cd and it's fine apart from the skipping in track 2. But doesnt making an image of a CD get rid of errors and skips because it's not being played directly from the damaged CD. I'm starting to think maybe the fault occured by the manufacturer of the CD and it's been there ever since it was made.

Can anyone add to this. Cheers in advance.
