DAT file

    I have this home movie on my computer. And I want to put it on a dvd. But the movie film is a DAT file. and I have to click it and chose open with to play it. and it plays fine. but how do I convert it from a DAT file to an mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 ?? thanks for the help

    Is it vcd? You should be able to rename that .dat to .mpg or use VCDGear to convert .dat to .mpg.
    Then use Nero and select VCD project.

    EDIT: .dat file can also be some type of DVD format what your video/dvd player can play in your pc.
