I've been recording my MiniDV tapes from my Sony TRV22 to my computer and then burning them onto DVD! The problem is that I want the date to stay on the screen on the recorded dvd and it ust doesn't show up although it is only WHILE being recorded onto the computer!

Why is this? Can someone help plz!!

    Thanks!

The time and date are recorded as a separate code on the tape and are not part of the video itself (but many camcorders do have an option to also put it on the video itslef, check the manula of your camcorder).
After tranfer through Firewire the code is still in there but is is hidden. If you want to see it on the video, you will have to extract this code out of the file and then use a video editing program to put it on the video itself.
From this page you can download a couple of free tools to extract timecode form a DV-AVI: http://www.digitalvideoclub.com/downloads/freedownloads.php
