I just got my buffalo g300n router I ordered off ebay its already flashed with dd-wrt.I want to bring wireless to a desktop ,printer and xbox in my room. I am not sure what software I need to install on my PC to setup to router. Also I am using a modem/wireless router my cable company provided me with ( it gives my laptop wireless and my ps3 is plugged in) Should I install the Buffalo softare that goes with my router ? Do I need to do anything to my old modem/router ? Any help would be great.

You don't need to install any Buffalo software as the DD-WRT firmware has replaced the Buffalo firmware :)
Ideally you should disable wireless and DHCP on the cable modem and hang the Buffalo off the cable modem, ie set the Buffalo up to do wireless and DHCP.
I have my xbox 360's and all old type xboxes hooked up to 3 routers (see my signature, i'm a DD-WRT user btw) via ethernet; how far will the cable modem be from the PS3 and xbox ?.
At the moment i have 3 DD-WRT routers connected together via ethernet (as everything is on one floor), each router has the same wireless 'SSID' and each is on a different wireless channel. Each router has a few xboxes and PC's connected via ethernet, and this setup allows laptops (wireless) to roam seamlessly between routers. Basically it's one subnet ie everything wireless and wired is on the same network.
I'm on ADSL and the main DD-WRT router is situated very close to the ADSL router, this ADSL router is in bridge mode ie it's just acting as a dumb modem ie just providing the internet connection and the main DD-WRT router provides DHCP and wireless.
You'll need to learn how to configure DD-WRT correctly in case it hasn't been done correctly or you need to change things; there's quite a few settings, you can find lots of info over at the DD-WRT forums, i'm a member over there too.
