I am looking at up grading my ram on my pc because all I have right now is 512mb of ram and my pc is running slow. So I ran a test at " http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ ". And I told me what I can use and what I couldn't use. And I was wondering if anyone know if I can use this ram to upgrade my pc. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2882686&CatId=2261 My Pc is a E-machine w1800
Can you be a little more specific? I cant help if I dont know what RAM type you need. Did it say like PC 2700, PC 3200, PC2 4200 or some kind of indication?
We can't tell you if thats good ram unless we know what your motherboard accepts. Download the Belarc advisor, run the program, and it will tell you your exact motherboard so you can look up the details. Those are decent brand RAM, and DDR2 PC6400 is pretty standard for most boards in the last few years but some cheaper boards only like 512MB RAM sticks and you have 1GB sticks.
you can only use ddr not ddr2 ram. Memory: 256MB DDR (PC2100) http://www.e4me.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=W Series&model=W1800
This is what you need DDR SDRAM Newegg. You should check your maximum supported RAM though before you buy. You need PC 2100 or higher RAM.
The Maximum size of ram I can have is Pc2700 1gb in each slot. That is what the test says on http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=W1800
The CPU is an AMD Athlon XP 1.53 GHz. More RAM will help, but not much. You have a very old and slow (compared to today's standards) CPU.
yeah i'm looking to upgrade both cpu and adding more ram. Cause right now i don't have enough money to buy a new pc. So do you think the ram i posted in the first post i made would work.
You need DDR not DDR2, 2100 is slower than 2700, if you are gonna upgrade cpu you should get 2700 to help with the faster flow...
Provided the motherboard supports PC 2700 memory. If it doesn't it will still work but will work as PC 2100 memory instead.
