Hi i've tried backing up the matrix dvd, 1 disc and am having some major quality issues. I've used Pinnacle instant copy8 as well as intervideo dvd copy3, deselected all audio which left me with 1 track but the picture is so unbearable and the menu consists of like 20 HUGE blocks. Anyone have an idea to make a good copy without dvdrebuilder? If I do a movie only with intervideo, can i keep the menu?

Try the free 21 day trial of AnyDVD and CloneDVD from http://www.slysoft.com Clone will let you do the movie only but preserve your menu. Here is a guide for the two programs http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/BACKUP WITH CLONEDVD&ANYDVD.pdf
I agree arniebear, if that combo of AnyDVD & CloneDVD doesn't do it, may as well hang it up! Really thouh, I haven't seen ANY Movies that this combo won't back-up.
I like AnyDVD and DVD Shrink, using the deep analysis and high quality adaptive error compensation settings ... And here is the best DVD Shrink guide that I've ever seen: http://forum.digital-digest.com/printthread.php?t=49051
I think that if DVDCopy3 didn't meet your video quality standards, DVD Rebuilder is just about the only option left. You can get the free version with HC (an encoder comparable to CCE). At least I think the free version comes with HC. Chances are that if DVD Copy 3 wasn't good enough for you, DVD Shrink won't be and neither will CloneDVD 2.
You need a DL DVD writer and a DL disc ... That way you can truly 'clone' the DVD .. Nothing else can compare except the original
squizzle and catfreak are right... It's either DVD-RB or a DL. I backed it up with Recode2, and, while flaws were hardly noticeable, I wanted better results. DVD-RBPro/HCEnc produced an excellent copy!!! I reserve it for use for the 2+ hour movies... I can't say enough about the results that it produces. I am a new user, and I wish that I had gotten it earlier.... I am in the process of redoing all of my longer movies with it...
I suppose that you could split it up onto two discs, also ... That makes it a p.i.t.a. to watch though
