Hi guys. I'm just now getting back into backing up some movies. It's been almost a year since I last did it. I always just used the guides and Decrypter/Shrink combo worked just fine for me. Now I'm seeing all other different kinds of proggies and combos which I don't recognize. My first question is, for basic backing up is there something about those 2 programs that's no longer any good? What are their weaknesses? Also, I'm seeing alot of people who do use these programs use yet a different one to actually burn the disc. Why wouldn't you just use those programs to finish up? I always just burned with Decrypter like the guide said to do and had no problems with it. Basically, Is there something I'm missing?

    Hi raywm3
There's some newer copy protections out there that neither Shrink or Decrypter can handle since they're no longer updated.

Add the free DVDFab HD Decrypter to your arsenal. It's still updated to handle the latest stuff. You can use that to rip like decrypter then open those files in Shrink.

Decrypter is still a good burner but there is an updated burn part of it - ImgBurn. Same developer just updated the burn engine and added some features like burning non iso files. You can use that to burn w/ Shrink too. Just download this tweak for Shrink - link
