I'm sure this is very simplistic, but it has me by the jewels. I created a new toolbar in Firefox(2.0) for FoxyTunes to sit on, but now I don't want it because it doesn't match my theme. Plus, it's really bugging the hell out of me because it always shows when I open Firefox. I can turn it off, but when I restart Firefox it is showing again. So, does anyone know how to delete a created toolbar in Firefox?
Well, I know that if you right click on any of the toolbars in Firefox, a context menu will display all of the toolbars you have, and all you have to do is remove the check by the one that you don't want displayed. But this will only hide the toolbar, not delete it completely. You could select "Customize" in the context menu, and select "Restore default set". I don't recommend this if you have an intensive toolbar setup because it will not only delete the toolbar that you want gone, but all customized toolbars back to Firefox's default set. I made this mistake myself trying to get rid of a unwanted toolbar, same as you are. I had to rebuild them all back from scratch (I was so mad 'cause it took awhile to do). So unless someone else knows how to delete a single toolbar w/o deleting them all, it's probably best to just hide it as I stated above and just forget about it.
Read my post mate. I do uncheck it every single time I open FireFox, but every single time I reopen Firefox it is showing again. I thought about just resetting default, but I'm in the same situation you was-I have other toolbars that I would like to keep and I don't want to have to rebuild them.
Oh, sorry I misread your post, my mistake, LOL. Okay, I've read your post correctly now and I may have a solution for you. 1)As you have done before, uncheck the toolbar in the context menu that you want gone. 2)Close Firefox, and make sure there are no firefox windows or processes running. 3)Go to your own profile folder, not the Firefox one. It's located in C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<Profile name>\ 4)Now delete the "localstore.rdf" file and then restart Firefox. Hope this helps, it's the solution they gave another person in the MozillaZine forums with a similiar problem, so I hope it solves your problem as well.
Wow, thanks mate! It messed up a few things-nothing I couldn't reset real quick such as big icons and a few placement issues, but the created toolbar is gone now. Very much appreciated!
