Hi i need to purchase a new external cd burner my current one has decided to stop working, i need one that burns slow as i burn my cds at about x8 because any higher they dont play properly trouble is all the latest burners burn fast and have minimum speeds of x16 which is no good as the cds dont play

Can anyone advise me on a good external cd burner to purchase i think i need one that has a maximum speed of 24x but when i read the specifications on the internet i dont understand them. im desperate for some advise so i really look forward to your replies thankyou

It doesn't say that it records at 8x but usually the stats of the product on pages like this only show the max burn speed. I have a CD/DVD burner combined (similar to the one above) and I can burn 4x fine. It depends more on the media than the burner. If the media is 4x, the burner will show 4x. If the media is compatible with 16x minimum then the burner will only show that.

Get a DVD Burner, they are the same price as CD Burners now. You will probably not even be able to find a CD Burner
