i recently bought a big sat dish from england and a technomate box ,it arrived there today and waiting on a card not sure what to get digiatlab or the art sports .so question is how do i know when i put the dish up that it s in the right direction ,i have a sly dish do i face it that way? or is there something i cn buy to help me have it pointed right .and what advice could anyone give me on the best card to get digitalalb one or art one.someone said that u hve to sort out the signal on the digiatl alb one,i have no idea what that means and i hope it doesnt mean i have to get an internet connection....?
Now I've seen this question before on some other forum maybe because your question is so vague your not getting any answers. So you bought a "big dish" well how big is your big dish? So what package do you want to watch? Digital albania sports (supersports) has english commentry on the football but the cards cost approx. £250.00 a art card will cost £125.00 but has no english commentry. Digital albania has a weaker signal and broadcaste from eutellesat at 16e. Thats 16 degress east of south. Art comes in at 13e thats 13 degress east of south and is a much stronger signal. Yours best bet for lining the signals up is a compass or even better a digital compass. You could also get a cheap sat meter to help out. Just as an example sly dish's are aimed at 28.2 degress east of south.

Official cards should work in most receivers although you don't mention what receiver you have. For digi albania check out alsat or marconi digital.
sharon you say you have a technomate box, i assume it has a slot on the front to insert a card and a card reader inside the box(a card reader takes the info needed from the card to unlock the channels).the reason i ask is there are quite a few cards for different sat companies,you mentioned 2 digitalalb and art and they dont all use the same scrambling system.you need to ensure your card reader or cam(conditional access module) to use the correct name will unscramble the channels on the card you buy.there are different types of boxes such as free to air(most often have no card reader and only good for free channels)or then they have the ones with a card reader built in(but it will only unscramble channels that are encrypted in one format) or you can have a box that has a flap on the front you can pull down and insert a card reader or cam in to(this method is better as you can buy a multi cam,such as a dragon cam that will be able to unlock most if not all cards,including sky cards). so you need to decide what channels you want to view and buy a card that is compatable with your box,you could get a dual satellite system say where you get 2 satellites from one dish at the same time(such as sky and say hotbird)if you are going to fit a dish your self you need to ensure its bolted securly and the bracket is fitted as plum to the wall as possible(plum means standing up straight and true,try putting a level up to it)hotbird is to the right of the angle of the sky dish ,about six to eight inches to the right(in the old analogue days you could move the dish and see the channels appear on the tv screen,but now we have digital its a bit more difficult)you would need a signal meter(to tell you that you have a signal from a satellite and then you can check to see if its the satellite you want) but you could probably get a guy to fit it for you for €100 or so ,would be less trouble. if you want info on what card or equipment you need you could buy a magazine called what satellite or google for info.
well the box i got is called Technomate 5300 Receiver and the dish is a orbital 1mtr still have nt found how i will put these up succesfully might try and buy a digital compass as was suggested and as for the cards i think it will have ti be the art sports one but i can find one on the sites u suggested ,is there a reliable site that i can ring if it does nt work if i but from them and do they have to turn it on or will it work as soon as i put it in ?thnks in advance people,
