I was reponding to a thread about media and here is what's been said about DigitalFAQ Media Guide ( http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm )http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/327795#1919159 What I want to say is I do follow that the media guide says because it's one of the only guides out there that puts so much info together. I'm sure that it doesn't have everything included as it's not the GOSPEL on everything media but I have to give it credit for putting as much together and actually rate media, even if it's not what all or many think of it totally correct! Are there any more media guides out there that rate the media? Read the email I sent them, in the thread above, and see their responce! What do you think?
I feel your pain IHOE, and I think that the list is a little dated and don't currently put alot of weight to it. I rarely direct queries to the site for confirmation, but instead comment on media that I have first hand knowledge of being quality. One thing I take into consideration is different setups and configs will have different success rates with various media. Someone can get coasters from hitachi's or TY's if there is something happening that is unseen in the logs or descriptions of systems that we request during our attempt to help...you can also see success with Memorex, Imation etc. if burned in a very stable and conflict free burning environment. There are too many variables to take into consideration to say that only a handful of brands will produce 100% quality results. We can only point the posters in the right direction, but we cannot make them drink the water...LOL
