I'm running into a backing up error. I am trying to back-up my office's networked server. And when I include a directory that has more than 8 nested folders within, the entire disc becomes Bunk. Basically, all the files beyond the first two sub levels read as 0 KB in size, furthermore they are unopenable. I have tried copying the folders to my desktop, and have checked the folders view properties. Is there anyway around this without having to create a new filling system to suit the DVD+rw's needs?
Actually, I believe this forum is for backing up and DVD-+R/RW disc, be it Data or DVD Video. I believe it may be a problem with the software you are using. Some software, such as Nero, doesnt like to go beyond the two or three nested folders. I would suggest you try the Record Now Deluxe software by veritas, you can get a link to the free trial from the user guide section of the website in my signature below. Let us know how you get on with it, it would be interesting to know Thanks Chris
I believe this forum is for backing up DVD movies as it says in the description and not for backing up an office server - sorry to be a stick in the mud but we'll have every corporate PC problem being posted here otherwise.
Whoaho, down boys ... i meant to post it in the advanced user forum anyway ... Though this does pose the question ... what if you are a newbie who is trying to back up data?
True, but it should be used for all DVD-R newbie questions like i put to dRD a while back. If you are a beginner and need to back something up, then it should be out here, irrelevant really if its Video or not, in my opinion ;-)
werecub- I don't think this belongs in the advanced users section. That section is for advanced users to ask each other questions, not an "ask the experts" section. What O/S is on the server? How are the hard drive(s) formatted?
It is an XP machine. I'm trying to backup a 10 gig drive that has 7 gigs used. So i'm splitting it between two DVD+RW's. One disc burnt fine, except the directories on this are maybe 4 deep at most. The other, which has directories 5 and 6 deep, records all the information, but once you get 3 deep, the files all have a size of 0kb and the directories are being treated as files.
Thanx for the help, it was roxio, i used your advice and downloaded the Record now delux trial version and it worked fine. Thanx for the help
