Hi there... My dad has recently bought a new strategy game which now requires the use of directx 9.0c but we only had 8.1 (was all he needed to play o his lder games) When we try to install directx 9.0c (either off the net or off a CD)it shows the liscence agreement, i agree and advance, then after a second it prompts "The required files have been copied across and are now ready for use" no indication of any installation!!! if i restart and check the version, it states we have version 8.1

I have installed directxbuster, and removed all directx files, thinking that a fresh start might help...! i am now left with no directx, and am unable to install the latest directx 9.0c

    Could anyone help me???

    Try these links:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...20-bfbb-4799-9908-d418cdeac197&displaylang=en

    http://filehippo.com/download_directx.html

If a fresh re-install doesn't work, search thru Microsoft's support site about DirectX issues... http://support.microsoft.com

After installation, try using the directx diagnostic tool. To do this, click on start menu, select [bold]Run...[/bold], type in: [bold]dxdiag[/bold] (if you have a firewall, it may notify you that it wants to go online, it's ok to allow it), let the progress bar on the bottom left corner reach its max...each tab has some tests to see if your directx is working or not...

If you have problems, you can save the results and send it to Microsoft for further assistance.

Also, you may want to check on your graphics card to see if it's functioning correctly...
