I have been copying dvds for a while with xpress. It was a little rough in the beginning. All bugs worked out. I'm noticing that my system is running slow and I'm getting a lot of error messages when opening documents and even when prompted to enter a blank DVD software shutdown message. I have searched this site for information about temp files that I may need to clean up and can't find anything. Are movies that I've copied weeks ago eating at my disc space? I'm at a loss.
Well DVD X Copy Xpress deletes the files after copying the DVD. Actually by copying DVDs all the time you drive has some fragmention problems. Go to My Computer, select your drive, right-click on it select Properties. Then go to the Tools tab and press Defragment Now. Note that this while take a while and you should not be running other program like it does the job.
I defragmented last night and started a copy when I left for work so we'll see what happens when I get home. Thanks for the reply ;~)
If u use Norton virus software.....look in the recycle bin and disable the Norton protected file feature, then empty the files it currently holds. Sometimes this will hold your movies, instead of deleting them. If this is your problem, you'll see your disc space return. THEN...defrag.
Thank you Bodine. I will try that as well. It's working again after I defragmented but I still think something is using disc space so I'll follow your instruction. ;~)
If you are using any other ripping programs like DVDshrink, its a good possibility the movie files are still on your HD. Find the location you set shrink to copy files to and look there. Delete any movie files you find in that folder. Make sure you disable any programs running in the background and disable antivirus before trying to backup a dvd movie. Most of your system resources are being used when you copy dvds. Jerry
