I thought Vertabatum was a discount brand

I am using Memorix now , was using sony .

I was also told that +R was better than -R Discs'

How about DVD Fab Platimun or gold????

I have been using DVD Shrink but was getting lots of errors

I just need something easy with few steps.

No, it is Verbatim. They are some of the best disks. At present you are using the WORST media available; Memorex...
Sony are fine aslong as they are made in Japan.
Dvd+r disks are better for burning DVDs to as they are more compatible in DVD player and can be booktyped to DVDROM (which are even more compatible in Dvd players).

As for DVD Fab plaitnum and gold; I beleive the free one does the job just fine.
What erros are you getting in DVD shrink - be a little more specific...
Do you have the latest version of DVD shrink?
What do you need easy steps for?

 

-R disks will play in more DVD players because they are an older format.

Verbatium DataLifePlus are great, and Taiyo Yuden are best.

 

I have also found that using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink are an easy and free way to make backups. You can download both programs free off the web.

For some of the newer movies with new encrypction, AnyDVD from Slysoft is the best $39 that you will ever spend if plan on backing up a lot of DVD's.

It looks hard at first but if you print out the guide and follow it to the "T" it will be easy after a few times through the process.

Actully most reviews between DVD-R and DVD+r that I have read say that DVD-R media is more comaptible. DVD-R media is 93% compatible with most DVD players where DVD+R media is 89% compatible to most DVD players.

Well I was just saying that most articles/reviews that I have read say DVD-R media are more compatible with Home DVD players at this time. But usually booktyping DVD+R media to DVD-ROM will fix this problem but not always.

This is pretty much like asking what DVD software is the best to use when backing up a DVD. You will never get everyone to agree on the same thing. Some will say that DVD-R media is better and some will say DVD+R is better.

I actually use both. My PS2 will not use DVD+R media only DVD-R. My Nintendo will only use DVD-R media not DVD+R. My Xbox and DVD home players will pretty much take both.
