O.K. Here is one that has me stumped. I just put XP on a new HD. When I try to boot up I get the old DISK BOOT FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER message. However, all I have to do is hit enter and it will boot up fine. What did I do wrong? I also can't attach a slave drive to it because it keeps trying to boot from the slave. Any suggestions?
Yes, the jumpers are set correctly and I have tried multiple combinations of the jumper settings. This is a 80G WD HD. It was a new HD when I put it in.
take jumper off if only drive on primary. one of main reasons i don't like wd as they don't follow standards of jumpers for master/slave
ddp, Thanks for the help. The jumpers were set correctly, but you were right. It was something really simple. Previous owner of the board had CMOS set to boot HDD-1 rather than HDD-0. Starts beautifully now.
