Have a 16X drive and 16X blank disks. I know that the recommendation is to burn at 50% of max - i.e. at 8X. When I do that, Ashampoo shows burning was actually at 4.4X. Should I go ahead and set it to burn at 16X - with actual at 8X?

Tried a couple at 16X burn - shows actual speed at 8954KB/s or 6.2X...and both DVD's work fine. Now I'm curious - with a 16X drive and 16X disks - why isn't it even close to 16X? Is the disparity the Program (Ashampoo) or the drive?
