There has been newer releases from both of the progs, DivX 5.0.4 beta 4 is out and also Gordian Knot 0.28 alpha 13 is out. Development will not slow down in any way, if the GKnot stays open-source GPL. There are at least three guys working 24/7 with this 0.28 thing, and the Doom9 forum holds the 'sticky' part of these releases.
