I have backed up my copy of the Beerfest DVD. It is too large to fit on a regular DVD +R. Instead of using a duel layer DVD is it possible to convert my img. file to a DivX? If so, what is the best program to use?

See if you can "unpack" your img file, then open the video_ts folder with "dvdshrink" (free). From here you can shrink it to fit on a regular dvd (takes about 10 minutes). The loss of quality is very minimal to do it this way.

If dvdshrink cannot open your video_ts folder, use the free "fixvts" to fix navigation errors and remove extra frames. Make sure it processes all the vobs and "fix in place" no backup of source files required.

If you really want to convert to divx or svid to get a file down to 700mb, You can also use dvdshrink to "backup to ISO", then use the free "fairuse wizard lite" to convert that ISO into a divx/xvid.
