I'm soory if this question has already been answered in the forums - i did search but couldn't find anyhting.

I have one file which is causing me a problem. A few seconds into the play back the picture freezes and the sound stutters/loops. it then becomes impossible to shut the player down and i have to reboot. It doesn't matter where you start the playback from, the same problem will occur a few seconds in. The file is obviously complete as you can run through the movie using the scroll bar at the bottom. I'm using the latest divx player and my hardware is pretty powerful and shouldn't cause a problem. I also have some other files which run fine. has anyone else experienced this problem? if so, is there a solution?

I haven't, i had a look at the website and the description of the program, and it said it worked by removing the bad frames. since it freezes every few seconds no matter where you start from, i thought by that logic there would be hardly any of the movie left!!

I'll give it a go all the same.

Ah ok, have you tried using gspot to see what codecs you require because you may be missing one!

I tried using avi fixed and it had some strange results. the file size roughly doubled but the actual length of the video was only about 10% of what it was! however what remained worked fine. This seemed to suggest that it was a bad file and not a codec problem, so i've just deleted it and i'll start all over again.

    Thanks for your help.
