I've figured out how to go from DVD to Divx now I want to know how come they are so big. the Archos AV 320 shrinks a movie down to 300k or so. What am I doing wrong. I'm using dvd decrypt then DVD to avi then cdex (for audio) then Virtual dub w/ divx 5.1.1 the encode but my audio is around 1 - 1.5 gig by it self the movie and the audio together are to large.
    Please help!
Trying to get alot of movies onto the archos!

Try auto gordianknot, its a one touch encoder for divx or xvid. My friends xvids come out pretty good and he says anybody can use it, its easy. Check out the doom9 forums for details.

i use virtual dub for encoding mpeg-2 video (dvd =mpeg-2) anyhow i use 700 kbit and compress the audio at 96 kbit mp3. how you do it is open virutal dub load your file goto streams/streams list right click your audio file select full processing mode right lick agian and select compression in the menu that pops up select select the mpeg layer-3 codec and select a bitrate. on a side note i use virtual dub mod so the menus will be a tad dif. also make sure to bump your volume up as the volume on dvd's tends to be really low.
