Hi, i am new here and will be getting a divx dvd player soon.

Can someone tell me if a divx converted to dvd would have better quality than a divx file?

I'd asked because i have a few divx movies that i like to watch on my 50inch tv, but if there's no difference for converting to dvd i wouldn't want to spend the hours converting them and just watch them as divx.

    thanks

It's not going to have better quality. Don't waste your time.

yea, i am picking up the phillips 5960 tonight. can't wait, hopes divx won't be so bad on a 50 inch.

btw, do you have hd upconversion with hdmi and does it help with picture quality?

I didn't really think so and there has been alot of discussion on that matter here some say yes some say no. I use component hook ups but when my new phillips comes I might check it out myself. I am an old laserdisc collector and so I sometimes feel we expect to much from all this hdtv stuff and to my well trained naked I component is just fine anyway it was hollywood who insisted on the hdmi so they could control product and how it was used or copied.
