Guys, Bit of a weird one but I'm hoping someone can come up with a fix for me. I had all Divx Codecs and Xvid plus AC3 filter codecs installed on my machine, and I could watch all my avi's fine, without a problem. Then all of a sudden, one day, I tried to play another Avi through Windows Media Player and all I'd get is Sound and no picture. Since then I've uninstalled them and reinstalled them but still no joy, I still get sound but no Picture. I even upgraded to WMP 9 but this still failed to work. The funny thing is is that I tried playing them through Virtual Dub and they work fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it possible to uninstall or completely clean my system of all the codecs I've installed? Help, desperate to get back to watching my Avis and I don't want to reinstall.
I remember hearing a problem like this and it turned out the person had installed a new video card or video card driver.
I'm still wet behind the ears as far as DivX is concerned, but I did recently find myself faced with the same problem after installing the Nimo Codec Pack 5, build 9. I un-installed the codec pack and re-installed my media player and it appears to be working, so far. I have also re-installed the Nimo Codec Pack 5, but this time I selected the build 8 version and the problem has not returned. I hope this may be of some help. (Running XP and using WMP9)
Codec packs cause all sorts of trouble like this!! Uninstall the codec pack and use GSpot to see what codec you need to play it. Gspot Codec Search http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/gspot.cfm
