'AutoGordianKnot' can convert a DVD that has been ripped to the hard drive to DivX (if the DivX codec has been installed in the system). AGK comes with 'XviD' codec as part of the package. DivX is selected from the 'Advanced' setting. The ripped DVD should also be run through 'DVD Shrink' before compressing with AGK. When running AGK, you can choose default sizes for the output or elect a 'Custom' size - perhaps 700MB (fit on one CD) for a two hour movie.. Be prepared to let the conversion run overnight. The same program (AGK) can be used for an XviD file that you wish to convert to DivX, although it should be noted that DivX and XviD are functionally equivalent and either should play back in a DivX certified player.
