DivX Shrink ?

    i have a dvd series of 25 avis amounting to 9gb which i want to burn to a 8.5gb dvd, is there any way i can whitle or shrink 1 avi so it fits on my 8.5 gb disc
    (my dvd player plays avi / divx so i dont need to encode)

    any help

    You either have to cut or discard some AVIs. If you don't, you need to re-encode them to make them smaller.

    Otherwise, if you're lucky, you can simply compress the AVIs audio using a smaller bitrate than the original audio.

    Open those AVIs with VirtualDubMod and do File___File Information. Look if the audio bitrate is much larger than 128 kbps.

    If you're lucky, and the audio bitrate used is quite large, you mughr re-encode those streams into AC3 128 kbps (with FFMPEG GUI) or MP3 CBR up to 96 kbps (with HeadAC3he).

    To replace the, suppose 160 kbps audio, with the 128 kbps (or 96 kbps) audio you just have to open that AVI with VirtualDubMod, do Stream Stream List, Disble the old one, Add the new (and smaller) one. After all, set Video to direct Stream Copy and Save (F7).

    Anyway, I think the easiest thing remains using two DVD5 (which I think cost less than a DVD9) or removing onea couple of AVIs. No job.
