ok i searched this already and i found some that said divx is avi and to just change the filename to .avi but my file doesnt work right. i got a .dvix(now a .avi) that will only open and play in VLC Media Player For some reason it wont open and play in Windows media player, real player, nero showtime.. ONLY VLC Media Player Im trying to convert it to avi.. How do i do that? I changed the extension to .avi and tried to convert it using a dvd author software.. and the video will play but has no sound. Its weird the sound works just fine when i load it in VLC player tho.
WMP and other players require codecs be installed in the PC to play back the videos. VLC is self-contained and requires no external codecs. To find out which codec is required to play the video, run 'GSpot' and drag the file onto the window. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/gspot.cfm
oh ok.. but i got it last night, i used em total video converter and took the .divx(renamed to .avi) and converted it to a real .avi. Now it plays normally with sound and doesnt stutter and everything it did before. I was worried it was currupt. Which might be true cuz it cut off about 30 minutes of the video from the end. Fine by me, the 30 minutes are nessacary..
but thanks tho. I have GSpot, but i've only used it once, a long time ago to find a codec I needed to dl. I probably wouldnt of even remember how to use it, if it wasnt for your post.
