Hey, I have a bunch of files that are right now divx and I want to convert them to xvid. When I open the file in virtualdubmod I get this message "virtualdubmod has dected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source avi file (audio stream 1) the current preference is to rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 4178 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the entire audio stream to an uncompressed wav file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder." Then it says yes or no. If I try and do it yes it encodes it but the audio is off and if I hit no the same thing. What and more importantly how do I reencode the files to xvid?
Why convert to XviD? DivX is MPEG-4 Part 2, XviD is MPEG-4 Part 2. So basically you end up with the same thing, but lower quality. Default setting I think asks you if you want to rewrite the header. Selecting no, should keep the header and it should be ok.
Because I own a d-link dsm 320 and it cant stream divx which sucks. When i try and do that the audio becomes out of synic
Load the file with YAAI. See if there is a delay, in the audio stream. Extract the audio as uncompressed WAV from your AVI, run HeadAC3he and load that WAV. Select 'MP3' as destination format and choose (press [options]) 'Alt CBR' as preset. Correct the delay with an appropriate value, so that the delay between your MP3 and the video is =0. Do Stream____Stream List, [disable] the old stream and [add] the new one. [OK]. Set Video___Compression in DivX (multipass is the best) and Save (F7).
